S.O.L.D. CLASSES - 2012 Spring Semester
I Corinthians
Taught by Dr. David Kees
The conflicts of the early Christians in Corinth are in many ways similar to our struggles today as Christians. With divisions, immorality, persecution, and other trials of the faithful, the message of Paul to the Corinthians is a much-needed message for our own times. Adventures in 1 Corinthians will explore the key elements that the apostle Paul introduced to a new and growing Church. Paul taught the Corinthians about the nature of grace and the Church as the Body of Christ.
Precept Study: Leviticus
Taught by Brenda Cronin
God did just as He had promised when He made a covenant with Abraham. After four hundred years, He brought the sons of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. He gave them His statutes and ordinances, established a priesthood, and gave them the pattern for the tabernacle where He might dwell among them. But how could He dwell among them? How could they ever hope to approach such a holy God, a God who shook His holy mountain with fire, smoke, and thunder, threatening the lives of any who would touch His holy ground? How could an unholy people become holy enough to worship Him properly? This is what you will see in the book of Leviticus, a little-studied book that has a message you will find amazingly practical and applicable. Class schedule: January 22 – March 1. Workbook: $15.00
Ruth: From Tragedy and Loss to Redemption
Taught by Lina Morris
Ruth leaves behind a life of wealth with her own family to follow a path of poverty in a foreign land with her mother-in-law. Their journey of faith inspires 21st Century Christians to leave the values of our worldly culture to find a new life in our Kinsman Redeemer, Jesus Christ.
The Book of Revelation
Taught by Boyd White
Our intended purpose is to explore the book of Revelation verse-by-verse, camping out on the key passages. We will also give an overview of the book of Revelation, including a brief introduction to apocalyptic literature. Please note that this study of Revelation will likely be covered over more than just one SOLD class time frame (more than eight weeks).
Parent Study: Already Gone
Taught by Becky Muller and Kristin Simmons
Are you worried about younger generations giving up on traditional church? You should be!! Statistics show that 2 out of 3 children IN CHURCH are leaving church as teens and college students. Ken Ham will give us an in-depth look at the cultural changes in the western world that are leading to the rejection of God’s word and directly to man’s fallible ideas. Ken will share with us statistics that Britt Beemer puts together on WHY kids are leaving and what we, as a church and parents, can do about it. Participants in this class are welcome to take other classes, as this class will read the book independently and meet on Friday, February 24, in the evening to watch the DVD where Ken teaches and presents his findings. Following the video we will have a time of discussion. Book: $10.00

Prayer
Taught by Marianne West
Because prayer is a vital part of the Christian life, the majority of this class will be spent praying together as a group. The first 10-15 minutes of class will be spent discussing ways to pray most effectively and consistently, learning to journal, and structuring the prayer time for each class period. The focus of the prayer time will be the local church (based on specific requests from leadership at FABC), the church in America, the global church, the persecuted church, and for salvation for the lost around the world. We will also pray for God to open our hearts so that we can be used by Him each day to go and make disciples.
