THE GOSPEL
WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?
The gospel is Good News! Good News that Jesus Christ came to earth, was crucified, and has risen again so that we may be saved from our sins if we believe and trust in Him.
WHO IS JESUS CHRIST?
Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God. He lived a perfect, sinless life and told us that He came to bring peace between us and God. He came to earth to rescue us from our sins and accomplished this by being crucified on a cross to pay our punishment for sin. He then was buried but rose from the grave three days later and conquered death!
WHAT IS SIN?
Sin is our rebellion against God and as a result sin seperates us from a relationship with God. Being seperated from a relationship with God puts us under His wrath and for that we deserve death and hell. We are all sinners and because of that we cannot do anything to restore this broken relationship with God. This is why Jesus Christ reached down to us.
WHAT IS SALVATION?
Salvation is the free gift from God. Though we are sinners, Christ died for us in our place to take our punishment for sin. This is called grace because Jesus lovingly gave of Himself for us even though we do not deserve it. Salvation, then, comes from God and God alone. All we have to do is accept His free gift to us.
HOW CAN I BE SAVED?
You can be saved by believing in what Christ did on the cross, asking forgiveness for your sins, and trusting Jesus Christ to be your Savior and Lord for the rest of your life! Remember, there is no sin too big that God cannot forgive. Salvation is His free gift to you if you simply accept it and surrender your life to him.
WHAT THE GOSPEL IS NOT...
While the Bible teaches that you become a new person in Jesus and are saved from your sins, the gospel does not mean that all your problems will go away. We are still in a sinful world and the truth is that bad things happen. Jesus does not promise to remove you from these problems but He does promise to guide you through them and to give you everything you need in this life to live for Him with a joyful heart knowing that God is in control! There is no greater joy than living your life for Jesus Christ in the good times and in the bad times!
